For Veterinary Practices

Thank you for your interest in the DVN Hub

The DVN Hub is a platform where Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) working across the UK are listed offering district veterinary nursing. Our aim is to make it easy for veterinary practices like yours to ensure continuity of care for patients and clients.

At all times, the veterinary care provided is under the direction of the pet’s vet, who retains responsibility for their patient’s care. The DVN Hub simply facilitates the connection between your practice and a RVN in your area who offers district veterinary nursing. The main benefit of providing this service to your clients and their companions, is that your patients will have the follow up care of a registered veterinary nurse at home while they recover from their operations or illness.
This ensures that the pets always receive the treatment care plan as you have prescribed it, and your clients are assured of professionalism at all times.

We currently work in partnership with practices nationwide, and we would love to talk to you about our network and the many benefits it has for your practice:

  • Ensuring continuation of treatment plans and recommended care in the home
  • Bonding clients to your practice through an appreciation of this extra level of care and convenience
  • Freeing up your own RVNs and vets to see more patients in the practice
  • Assurance of a professional service in line with your own practice values
  • Pets remain under your care
  • Clients pay for any district veterinary nurse services direct to the nurse for simplicity.
  • Any prescriptions required are issued by you the vet, and payment for these (or any medical treatment given under your direction) is made to you, as the supervising practice
  • There have been many insurance companies who have covered our founder’s district veterinary nursing services, to name a few: Pet Plan, Bought by Many, Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Pet Emporium and More Than.

For Veterinary Practices

What does a District Veterinary Nurse do?
  • Help owners in their own homes to administer treatment care plans prescribed by their registered vet.
  • Instill confidence in owner’s abilities to administer medications and provide vital reassurance to owners
  • Work with vets to create care plans that takes into consideration not only the needs of the patient but the needs of the owner too
  • Improve client/practice relationships
  • Facilitate client concordance. Concordance is the shared understanding between the vet and pet owner about the overall aims of the pet’s treatment care plan – nurses can help pet owners understand why medications need to be taken and how to manage pet’s conditions.
  • Reduce in-patient hospital stays
  • Outreach to clients who may not otherwise manage to attend the Practice due to their personal circumstances for their pet’s nurse clinics
  • Improve patient outcomes

The DVN Hub does not employ any of the nurses nor does it profit from any work generated in this platform. Our goal is to facilitate district veterinary nursing as a first priority.

  • The DVN Hub advises all nurses on this site to be registered with the RCVS, have appropriate professional indemnity insurance to cover their work, be Disclosure and Barring Service checked and act under the clear direction of a vet at all times.
  • The DVN Hub is not responsible for enforcing these recommendations, it is the responsibility of the individual district registered veterinary nurse to ensure this and of the pet owner to ask the district registered veterinary nurse to show evidence to the pet owner.
